Unlike traditional insurance carriers, SCHBSIF operates as a self-insured fund, allowing us greater flexibility to serve our members. We are not bound by the National Council on Compensation Insurance (NCCI) rules, which means we can tailor our policies to better fit the unique needs of the construction industry. This includes the ability to split properly documented payroll between different class codes, potentially reducing overall workers’ compensation coverage costs for our policyholders. ​
