Become an SCHB Agent
We have a very high policyholder renewal retention rate. This mean less work for our agents and commissions that continue year after year. It is also a good indicator of our policyholders’ satisfaction with both our product and our customer service.
Agent Benefits
Higher Retention
We have a very high policyholder renewal retention rate. This mean less work for our agents and commissions that continue year after year. It is also a good indicator of our policyholders’ satisfaction with both our product and our customer service.
Lower Costs
Construction is seasonal and job-dependent, so we offer flexible premium payments tied to actual payroll. This ensures our policyholders pay premiums in line with their business cycles, reducing financial strain during slower months.
Less Risk
Our comprehensive Risk Control and Safety programs, led by an experienced former OSHA compliance officer, provide free safety training for policyholders. Whether large or small, all our clients benefit from tailored safety education to minimize workplace risks.
We are here to help
Whether you’re new to writing construction business or looking to expand your list of carriers, SCHBSIF needs to be in your toolbox. Our agents are our sales force and we recognize that our agents are critical to our continued success. As an agent, you have direct access to every member of our management team as well as a dedicated customer support staff who can get things done for you and for your customers.
As a SCHBSIF agent, your opinion counts. We value our agents as a crucial source of market information as they serve on the front lines. We also value our agents as a sounding board for new programs, campaigns, rate changes, and operational or procedural changes. We are well aware that what we do can affect your business, so we ensure that we include our agent force in our decision processes.
Personalized Service
Each policyholder is assigned a dedicated customer service rep and premium auditor who truly understand their business. They’re always available to offer personalized support, ensuring your customers feel valued and heard.
Unbundle Your Customer
Unlike other carriers that bundle workers’ comp with all other lines, SCHB allows you to separate your customer’s workers’ comp coverage. Place their other lines with the best rate provider while getting the most competitive workers’ comp rates with us.
Advanced Technology
Gain access to our advanced online portal, giving you full control of your book of business. From policy downloads to commission tracking, the portal provides everything you need to manage your business efficiently – and lets you assign roles for team members to streamline operations.
Splitting Payroll
Unlike NCCI, we allow payroll to be split between different class codes based on the work performed. This flexibility allows policyholders to allocate payroll to a lower-rate class code, potentially reducing their premiums – something NCCI doesn't permit.
SCWCC Oversight versus SCDOI Governance
We operate under the SC Workers’ Compensation Commission’s oversight rather than the SC Department of Insurance. As a mono-line, mono-state carrier, we stay focused on serving our agents and policyholders without distractions from unrelated forces.
Independent of NCCI
As a self-insured trust, we aren’t bound by NCCI requirements. While we use their guidelines, we have the freedom to tailor our policies to better serve the construction industry, offering a distinct advantage over stock and mutual carriers.
Two 5605 (Executive Supervisor) Rates
We offer flexibility in classifying executive supervisors. If NCCI’s middle-management separation requirement isn’t met, we provide a special 5606 rate that avoids assigning the employee to the higher governing class code. For fully compliant cases, we offer a competitive 5606 rate that’s on par with stock and mutual carriers, giving your customers the best of both worlds.
